This Plan is now subject to a 6-weeks consultation, in accordance with Regulations 19 and 35 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012, as amended1 . The Local Plan Part 2 will be assessed by the appointed Planning Inspector in accordance with four criteria. This is to establish that it has been prepared in accordance with the relevant legal and procedural requirements, and whether it is 'sound'; i.e.:

  1. a) Positively prepared – consistent with relevant strategic policies for the area [that is, the Local Plan Part 1; the North Northamptonshire Joint Core Strategy 2011- 2031, adopted July 2016];
  2. b) Justified – an appropriate strategy, taking into account the reasonable alternatives, and based on proportionate evidence;
  3. c) Effective – deliverable over the plan period; and
  4. d) Consistent with national policy – enabling the delivery of sustainable development in accordance with the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF).

The consultation will take place from 5 February – 19 March 2021, inclusive. In responding, it is necessary to specify whether you support or object to the Local Plan Part 2; as a whole, a particular section, or a specific paragraph or policy. It is also necessary for each representation to specify which of the four "soundness" tests above is applicable.
